Floral Wall Calendar 2027: Twelve Hand-Drawn Plates, Cyclamen to Juniper

2027 floral wall calendar cover with hand-drawn flowering plants by Fiurdelin Digital download →

This floral wall calendar 2027 runs from cyclamen in January to juniper in December, one hand-drawn plate for each month. Some of the plates are drawn down to the ground. I kept the corm on the April saffron crocus and the tuber on the September windflower. A flower cut off at the stem is only half a specimen. That choice also explains why a few months do not match the bloom.

TL;DRThe floral wall calendar 2027 is a 26-page printable PDF with twelve hand-drawn plates covering nineteen flowering plants, from cyclamen to juniper. Three of its months follow the plant’s life cycle rather than its flowering time.

Twelve months, nineteen plants

A floral wall calendar 2027 can follow a garden, a florist or a hedgerow. This one follows all three, and moves between them as the year turns. Winter is sparse on purpose. January is a single cyclamen, a plant with a long history in painting that our piece on cyclamen in art traces. February is roses. March pairs a magnolia with snowdrops, the first white of the year against the first large flower.

Spring fills the page. April holds the saffron crocus beside peonies, and May sets calendula next to a dandelion. The dandelion earned its place. Most people pull it out of the lawn, but on paper it is one of the most intricate plants in the calendar.

Summer runs warm. June brings hydrangea and oleander, and July a poppy with a creeping buttercup. August sets a sunflower beside orange balsam, the wild impatiens also called jewelweed.

The last quarter slows down again. September is a single Greek windflower, October ferns with one fiddlehead, and November the leaves of maple and oak. December closes on juniper, the one evergreen in the year.

Across the floral wall calendar 2027 the colour moves with the season as well. The pages are pale in winter, saturated through July and August, and back to browns and dark greens by December. Hung in sequence, the year changes on the wall the way it changes outside the window.

Why the floral wall calendar 2027 draws roots

Three months in this calendar will puzzle a gardener. Each one has an answer in the plant’s life cycle, and two of them lie underground.

Start with April. The saffron crocus flowers in autumn, and the RHS describes it as an autumn-flowering corm. The April plate is there for the corm itself. It carries the plant through the year, and most drawings leave it out. Its long story as a spice is told in our history of saffron.

The Greek windflower, Anemone blanda, blooms in early spring. September is when its tubers go into the ground. The September plate shows the plant as a gardener meets it that month. Anemones also carry a language of their own, which our piece on what anemones symbolise explains.

The October ferns are the third case. A fiddlehead is a spring shape, yet the October plate sets one beside the mature fronds. Ferns carry no flowers at all, so the frond’s whole year is shown on a single page instead.

Drawing the floral wall calendar 2027

Most months hold two plants rather than one. Pairing them let each page carry a contrast: a heavy peony against a fine crocus, a garden sunflower against a wild balsam. The single-plant months, January, February, September and December, are quieter by design.

Drawing roots changes how you understand a plant. A corm or a tuber shows how the plant survives the months when nothing shows above ground. Leaving it out would have made each page lighter and easier to hang. Keeping it made the calendar more honest about how these plants actually live. That is also why this floral wall calendar 2027 reads as a year of plants, not a year of cut flowers.

Printing it, and where it hangs

The floral wall calendar 2027 prints on matte paper of 200 gsm or heavier, single-sided. A copy shop can wire-bind the pages, or each illustration can hang above its own date grid. Pale plates such as the snowdrops and the fern need a clean matte stock most. Fine lines disappear on glossy or thin paper. Print one page first and check it in daylight before running the whole year. A home office, a kitchen wall and a potting shed all suit it, in cottagecore, naturalist or country interiors. For moving plates around a room through the year, our notes on seasonal botanical styling apply to a calendar too.

FAQ

Which flowers are in the floral wall calendar 2027?

Nineteen flowering plants across twelve months. They run from cyclamen in January through roses, magnolia, snowdrops, saffron crocus, peonies, calendula and dandelion. Then come hydrangea, oleander, poppy, buttercup, sunflower, orange balsam, Greek windflower, ferns, maple, oak and juniper.

Why is the saffron crocus in April when it flowers in autumn?

The April plate shows the corm as well as the flower. Its corm is how the plant lives through the year, and it is the part most drawings leave out. The flower on the page records what the corm produces each autumn.

Will it print on US Letter paper?

Yes. The pages are A4 landscape, 297 × 210 mm. Choose “Fit to page” in the print dialog and it prints cleanly on Letter.

Is it a good gift for a gardener?

It is a considered one, and a practical one. The file arrives as soon as the order is complete, so it still arrives on time when bought on 31 December. The recipient prints it at home or at a copy shop.

How is this floral calendar printed and delivered?

It is a digital download from Etsy, and nothing physical is shipped. You receive a high-resolution PDF straight away. You then print it at home, or through a local or online print shop.

A year of flowers, root and all

A gardener will read this floral wall calendar 2027 twice. It shows the plant below the soil as well as above it. The printable file is on Etsy, and the plates behind it live in the Fiurdelin collection.
